Columcille and Kirkridge are set in the beautiful mountain region of the
Poconoes. The trees will be changing color at this time of year, and there are lots of hiking trails to help take advantage of the views (the famous Appalachian trail runs right by The Farmhouse, in fact). There is plenty to see and do.
Here are some highlights:
Autumn Equinox and Celtic Concert
Columcille Megalith Park
Sunday, September 23rd from 2:00-5:00pm
Shawnee Mountain Rodeo and Chili Cook-off
Saturday & Sunday - September 22 & 23, 2012
11:30am to 5:00pm; Rodeo at 2:00pm
Approx 15 miles from Kirkridge at Shawnee-On-Delaware, you'll find a
weekend fair that includes bronco and bull riding, country music, line
dancing, craft vendors and the 6th Annual Chili Cook-off. Sounds like
great fun! More details
here.
The Town of Stroudsburg
Approximately 7 miles from Kirkridge,
Stroudsburg has lots of shops, restaurants, art and entertainment. Definitely worth a look if you have the time.
There's even an
Irish pub on Main street (of course!) that looks like great craic!
And don't miss the
Stroudsmoor Bakery - fabulous cakes, cookies, lunches and even frozen meals to go - the meatballs and pot pies are delicious! (guess what we are having for Sunday dinner?)
Bushkill Falls
Known as the Niagara of Pennsylvania,
Bushkill Falls is approx 25 miles from Kirkridge and encompasses 8 waterfalls in a beautiful park.
Remember, we have the Farmhouse until 6:00pm on Sunday, so feel free to make it your home base for the day!
